The Greenway
The Greenway in London is an embankment which extends from Bow to Beckton and contains the Northern Outfall Sewer. It was designed by Joseph Bazalgette after a Cholera outbreak in 1853 and the 'Great Stink' in 1858. Its surface is now a footpath and cycle track, part of which runs through the Olympic Park.
My images show it in 2007 shortly after the announcement of the London was to host the 2012 Olympics. In addition to the path on the The Greenway, this area was a mixture of derelict land, scrap businesses and waterways.
